What is the reason for conflict between Great Britain and Northern Ireland? i chose this topic because its interesting to me and i think that alot of people are confused about the reality behind the fighting. i want to clear up in my paper that the IRA is not a terrorist group, and also explore more deeply into the heart of the issues, and past issues that created the turbulence that exists today in the 6 counties of Northern Ireland.
What is the reason for conflict between Great Britain and Northern Ireland?
The British have oppressed the Irish cathloic people in Northern Ireland for many years, this led to the formation of the IRA (Irish Republican Army). The IRA is viewed by some as a terrorist group but in reality they have always had a just cause in fighing against the oppressive British government.
How will answering this question be helpful to me?
People are ignorant to just how much the UK has oppressed people all over the world. From India, to Ireland, and of course the USA used to be a slave to British tyranny. Americans need to support things based off of right and wrong, not based off of who our war time allies are. At times when Britain is oppressive to people that dont deserve it we should step in and stop them. I just want to raise awareness about these types of things.

Ty,
ReplyDeleteExcellent ideas here. I want to remind you, though, that your research question should be something you want to know more about rather than an idea you'd like to prove to others. It seems like you already know a lot about this conflict (and are seeking to educate/convince readers), which is fine, but I just worry there's not anything left for you to discover. Is there, perhaps, an element of this issue you'd like to know more about? Perhaps "Why are people so confused about the N. Ireland/GB conflict?"
